A MOODY GUEST ROOM WITH SHERWIN WILLIAMS

This post is not sponsored. I’ve been contemplating a guest room refresh for a while now and had been sitting on this mockup for some time. When I saw Sherwin Williams’ Color of the Year, Urbane Bronze, I knew that the warm earth, moody grey was a good choice for my budget guest room refresh.

When we first renovated the house we did all the flooring upstairs, replaced doors, hardware, trim, painted, hung blinds and that’s about where we stopped. I wasn’t ready to commit to light fixtures so we’ve had bare bulbs & exposed wires hanging from the ceiling for 3 years now - J recently got after me about this.

Crappy iPhone pics for the win! I took these photos just before an extended house guest joined us, full disclosure it’s never this tidy. We have another guest room as well that’s just as plain & boring and when we have guests over there’s always confusion about which room their staying in. “Is it the front bedroom or the back bedroom”, “the one closest to the bathroom”, “with the queen bed”, or likewise, “with the full bed”; the list of descriptors for these guest rooms goes on and on but none of them are defining or efficient. Which led me to the idea of doing a refresh on the one that probably get’s the most use, the “back bedroom”, I knew I wanted a dark grey to camouflage the grey metal IKEA bed we were working with. Additionally, my boss gifted me petite nightstands that fit in the space well that will be getting a makeover, I’m recycling our old bathroom mirror in the space and a pillow purchased off Etsy a few months ago.

Anyways, I won’t be doing this for a while since I’ve got so many smaller DIY’s up in the air and that bedroom is currently occupied, but I’m very excited and couldn’t help sharing with the announcement of Sherwin Williams Color of the Year!
